Biography

Punkcan is Tsung-min Yang, an artist working across sound, image, generative systems, and personal Conjuration.

Born in Kaohsiung in 1976. Trained in Navy photography and darkroom practice from 1997, participated in the labour movement from 1999, and has engaged in sound art since 2003.

Conjuration is approached as a thought structure: operations that intervene in the nervous system’s cognitive processes, reshaping thought, hearing, and vision, which then recursively revise cognition itself.

The current archive reorganizes works without smoothing away their unstable edges: sound, vision, performance records, generative systems, and personal cosmology remain in contact.

Mild dissociative disorder

Since childhood, I have been exploring the various interpretations and expressions of Conjuration and hallucination (myself), and has been arguing the philosophical nature of Conjuration.

In all seriousness, I am not creating art, but the process of exploring and reconstructing and experimenting with Conjuration is very similar to art creation.
